ENAST (National Astronomy Meeting) is the largest Amateur Astronomy meeting in Brazil, currently on 2013 at its 16th annual installment.
The first ENAST was held in Campos dos Goytacazes, a town in the state of Rio de Janeiro, by the Louis Cruls Astronomy Club (CALC), with the collaboration of Norte Fluminense State University, in november 1998.
Since its inception, the main mission of ENAST has been to bring together amateur and professional astronomers, as well as the general public, in order to promote and foster the exchange of information and experiences in this field. During the event, renowned professional astronomers can be heard in plenary sessions and meetings about several research projects from institutions across the country are held. In this way, the conference contributes to presenting astronomy to the general public, giving them access to dependable scientific knowledge, as well as it serves as a meeting place and discussion forum for the scientific community.
